Banky’s latest piece in London references the notorious London graffiti artist/tagger Tox who was recently found guilty of seven counts of criminal damage and convicted at Blackfriars crown court in Central London. Tox has been in custody since his arrest over five months ago and is likely to face further jail time when sentenced on 1 July.
The piece appeared this morning in Jeffreys Street in Camden Town, where Tox is from. Street Art London went to visit it (and got very wet in the process!), check out more of our photos below:

The building owner has covered over ‘TOX’ with perspex:
**UPDATE**29/06/11
The building owner has upped the security around the Banksy wall with a CCTV system. This could be the first case since records began of illegal street art being protected by CCTV. Other than the Foundry Building of course!
Oh well maybe next time….ran out of the office half looking like curly sue in me trainers other half looking like where’s wally with map and rucksack….only to find its boarded up already (6pm!)…gonna have to give up the day job I think……you snooze you lose…
It’s under perspex now so you can go and check it out… albeit in a diluted sense.
You can’t have one rule for Tox and one for the Banksys of this world – surely you either jail them all or you jai none of them. Yes Bansky, Obey, Space Invader and Eine etc have more ‘artistic value’ (I love them all), and Tox may be an eyesore, but who is the law to say what’s artistic and what’s not? Also, how come it’s OK for corporations to pay money to visually invade our streets? I’m sure I’ve read stories in the past about people being told to take down ‘lost cat’ posters because they hadn’t paid or gotten permission
TOO TRUE
Mark thats real talk. something that alot of people will not want to acknowledge.
FREE TOX! He is in jail sitting next to rapists, murderers and pedos…. Tox is a graffiti writer doing so called vandalism on property owned by no one.. a victimless crime!!!! get your head straight people!!!
Who actually boards these up? the council or somebody with an eye for money?
The building owner perspexed it up. A Camden Council spokesperson said: “It’s a private property so it’s completely up to the owners. Unless it was racist, homophobic or offensive in any other way, we would not insist it was whitewashed.”
Or maybe Banksy did it? He framed it and put that fake camera. I think that it’s something he would do, don’t you?
Banksy uses CCTV alot in his work to make a comment about modern society..
this is a first !! his work is now becoming monitored by cctv.. what hes created is now consuming itself.
Because he has no inherent value or principles of his own .ie. he remains in an elusive space like a question dodging politican. so hes free to sit on the fence and send up just about anything.
the saddest reflection is that some herald him as a messiah(especially in Islington.
He has nothing to do with Tox ,infact he couldnt be further down the spectrum from the man that is Tox.
yet he uses tox’s name without permission to create more work which is essentially cradled by people whos minds are totally condtioned by capital.(the non free thinkers and perspex preservers ).
i choose Tox for messiah. he is a vandal and you know where to find him – in prison or on the railway line.
Conspiracy theory.
Has anyone investigated if this is a real Banksy. I dont think this is genuine . Its not cleaver enough.
I saw someone working on the image in daylight and i dont think it was Banksy. The same person came back later with someone else to put up the perspex covered frame. Now the owner of the house wants to sell the graffity for £250,000. I think he arranged the covering the day after the image appeared and has now erected a CCTV camera. Its all a bit fishy. Its easy to copy Banksys style. But its not easy to come up with a original Banksy idea. This one is a bit weak.
you cant spell and banksy sucks ass
its not going to be there much longer…
numerous people have been attacking the perspex screen with paint, tools and even a garden chair!
cctv cameras are very vulnerable to attack, and it only takes a few holes in the perspex for a rattlecan to blast another banksy to oblivion
there are alot of people in camden p*ssed at Banksy over the defacement of Robbo’s canal piece 😉
The council are going to make them remove the screen
